Luanping County, belonging to Chengde City, Hebei Province, is located in the western part of Chengde City, at the provincial and municipal intersection of Beijing and Hebei, known as the northern gate of Beijing, and is the main transportation hub communicating with Beijing and Hebei. Luanping County has a total area of 2,993 square kilometers, with the longest length of 95.7 kilometers from east to west and the widest width of 67 kilometers from north to south. It is bordered by Shuangluan District and Chengde County in the east and southeast, Huairou District and Miyun District in Beijing in the west and southwest, and Fengning Manchu Autonomous County and Longhua County in the north, with 20 townships (7 towns, 3 townships and 10 ethnic townships), 1 street, 200 administrative villages and 9 neighborhood committees under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, Luanping County had a resident population of 265,607.
Luanping County was formally established in 1778 (43rd year of Qianlong), there was human civilization 6,800 years ago, Shanrong nationality from the Shang Zhou to the Warring States period in Luanping continued for more than 700 years, forming a distinctive national characteristics of Shanrong culture; within the territory of the Qing Dynasty, there are five imperial road ruins, the site of the Palace of the line of 8 sites, the provincial level and above the 10 key cultural relics protection units, all kinds of ruins, relics and ancient buildings of more than 360 sites, the KangXi, Kangxi, Qianlong, Jiaqing, Xianfeng and other four emperors autumn hunting summer vacation round trip to this area 230 times, of which, Kangxi, Qianlong Emperor most, are in more than 90 times. Luanping is the main collection site of the new Chinese Mandarin standard pronunciation.
In 2022, Luanping County's GDP was 18.97 billion yuan, up 3.3% year-on-year.
In 2016, Luanping County was named one of the first National Agricultural Products Quality Safety Counties by the Ministry of Agriculture.On January 19, 2017, Luanping County was named one of the "Top 10 Counties" in Hebei Province's governmental affairs new media in 2016.On May 5, 2019, the Hebei Provincial Government issued a notice formally approving the withdrawal of Luanping County from the sequence of poverty-stricken counties.On May 9, Luanping County was named one of the top 10 counties in Hebei Province's governmental affairs new media. Hebei Provincial Department of Commerce, Hebei Provincial Department of Finance, and Hebei Provincial Poverty Alleviation and Development Office as the 2019 Hebei E-commerce into Rural Demonstration County. It is one of the 14 key counties in the green economic circle around the capital of Hebei Province.
