Anning District, a district of Lanzhou, Gansu Province, is located in the central part of Gansu Province, west of Lanzhou City and on the north bank of the Yellow River. The terrain is high in the north and low in the south, with a remarkable continental climate and four distinct seasons. It has a total area of 441.74 square kilometers, with 8 streets and 2 towns under its jurisdiction. As of February 2023, the resident population was 472,100 people.
The name of Anning District originates from Anning Fortress, a military castle in the Ming Dynasty, which means "peace and quiet, free from harm", and it was a must-pass place on the ancient Silk Road. The forest coverage rate in the district reaches 43.4%, and the public green area per capita reaches 12.2 square meters, winning the title of "National Greening Model County". The western section of the Yellow River Tourism Style Line runs through the whole territory of Anning District, and there are natural and humanistic landscapes such as Tianxisha Palace, Renshou Mountain, Yintan Wetland Park, Lanzhou Botanical Garden, Anning Ecological and Cultural Park, Jiuzhou Terrace, Wenshuji Pavilion, Siku Quanshu Collection, Lanzhou Museum of National Culture and so on in the area.
In 2020, the annual GDP of Anning District will be 23.799 billion yuan, an increase of 5.8% year-on-year.
