Lufeng City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, is administered by Shanwei City. It is a pilot of financial reform in directly governed counties in Guangdong Province. It is located on the east coast of Guangdong Province on the shore of Jieshi Bay, between the two special economic zones of Shenzhen and Shantou, with a total land area of 16,877.7 square kilometers.At the end of 2021, Lufeng had a total household population of 1,908,800 people; and a resident population of 1,227,700 people.
In the fifth year of Tang Wude (624), the eastern part of the city was set aside from Hai Feng County to establish An Lu County. In the first year of Tang Zhenguan (627), it was incorporated into Haifeng County. Qing Yongzheng nine years (1731), analysis of SITC belongs to the Square Contour, Shi Fan, Jikang three set Lufeng County, the county seat of the old market town of East China Sea (now the old market of the town of East China Sea), under the Huizhou Prefecture, the Republic of China in the early days of the Chiu Chau Methodist Church, and then belongs to the Office of the Commissioner for the Administration of the Dongjiang, Dongjiang aftermath of the Commissioners Office of the East River Pacification Commissioners Office of the Dongjiang Pacification Commissioners Office of the Fourth Administrative Inspector-General's Office. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, it belonged to the Dongjiang District Administrative Inspector's Office; in 1953, it was changed to the East Guangdong District Administrative Commissioner's Office; in 1956, it was changed to the Huiyang Commissioner's Office; in 1958, it belonged to the Shantou Commissioner's Office; in 1983, it was changed to the Huiyang District; in 1988, it was changed to the Shanwei Municipal Government, and in January 1995, it was set up as a county-level Lufeng Municipality.
As of October 2022, Lufeng City has 3 streets and 17 towns under its jurisdiction. The municipal government is located in Donghai Street. The intangible culture of Lufeng City includes Zhengzhi Opera, Baizhi Opera, Xiqin Opera, shadow puppetry, Yinggong Dance, Qiandao Dance, Rolling Golden Dragons, Banyin, and Fishing Songs, etc. The monuments include Xuanwu Mountain, a national key cultural relics protection unit; Guanyinling, a golden box of the "Divine Sea and Sandstone"; and Dingguang Temple, an ancient Buddhist temple.
In 2022, the gross regional product of Lufeng City is 41.224 billion yuan, with a growth rate of -2.8%.
