Matan Town, belonging to Dianbai District, Maoming City, Guangdong Province, is located in the southeastern part of Dianbai District, east of which is across the river from Rudong Town, Yangxi County, southeast of which is bordered by Lingmen Town, south of which is bordered by Diancheng Town, west of which is connected with Guanzhu Town, and north of which is bordered by Wangfujing Town, with an area of 161.91 square kilometers of administrative area. As of the end of 2019, the registered population of Matan Town was 94,011. During the Sui and Tang dynasties, it was the seat of Lianjiang County (Baoning County).In 1983, the commune was abolished to establish Matat District.In 1987, the district was abolished to establish Matat Town. As of October 2021, Matan Town has 1 community and 19 administrative villages under its jurisdiction, with the town's people's government stationed at No. 1, Fuqian Road, Matan Community.
