Junan Town, belonging to Shunde District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province, is located in the southwestern part of Shunde District, bordering the cities of Zhongshan and Jiangmen. It has a total area of 79.45 square kilometers. As of the end of 2019, Junan Town had a household population of 97,370.
During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the territory of Shunde County was under the jurisdiction of Guangzhou Prefecture.In April 1956, it was renamed Jun'an District.In 1958, it was called Jun'an People's Commune and belonged to Foshan District. In November of the same year, it was transferred to Guangzhou District, and in December of the same year, it was merged with Panyu County to form Panshun County, and in January 1959, it was returned to the administration of Foshan District, and in January 1960, Panshun County was abolished, and Panyu and Shunde Counties were restored, and in June 1983, the system of a county with a city was implemented, and Shunde County was included in Foshan City, and in December 1983, the name was restored to Jun'an District, and in February 1987, it was renamed as Jun'an Town. As of June 2020, Junan Town has 8 communities and 5 administrative villages under its jurisdiction. The People's Government of the town is located at No.8 Yong'an Road, Jun'an Town.In September 2021, Jun'an Town was selected as one of the "1,000 Strongest Towns in China in 2021".
In 2016, Junan Town realized GDP of 14.761 billion yuan, total industrial and agricultural output value of 35.453 billion yuan, industrial output value above scale of 17.31 billion yuan, turnover of retail, accommodation and catering above quota of 1.133 billion yuan, savings balance of urban and rural residents of 9.266 billion yuan, industrial and commercial tax revenue of 0.848 billion yuan, and fixed asset investment of 4.301 billion yuan.
