Changting County, belongs to Longyan City, Fujian Province. It is located in the western part of Fujian, with Liancheng County on the eastern border and Ruijin City on the western border. It is bounded by Shanghang County in the south, Ninghua County in the north, and Shicheng County in the northwest, with a total area of 3,112.42 square kilometers.In 2022, Changting County had a resident population of 397,000 and a total population of 544,000. As of June 2023, Changting County has 13 towns and 5 townships under its jurisdiction.
Changting, anciently known as Tingzhou. In the Tang Dynasty, Changting County was established. In the Northern Song Dynasty, Shanghang County and Wuping County were established in the South and Southwest. In the Southern Song Dynasty, Liancheng County (now Liancheng County) was established in Liutuanli. Changting and Fenghuang in Hunan Province are known as "the two most beautiful mountain cities in China". It has been the seat of state, county, road and government for more than 1,000 years since Tang Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, and is the third batch of famous historical and cultural cities, recognized as the important birthplace of Hakka culture, and the largest settlement of Hakka people in Fujian, and known as the world's "capital of Hakka". It is also the largest Hakka settlement in Fujian and is known as the "Hakka Capital" in the world. It is a famous old revolutionary area, and during the Second Domestic Revolutionary War, Changting was the economic center of the Central Soviet Union, and was known as the "Little Red Shanghai".
