Longwen District, belonging to Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, is located in the central part of the Zhangzhou Plain, is the central city of Zhangzhou City, located between latitude 24°29′~24°42′N and longitude 117°29′~117°43′E, with subtropical oceanic monsoon climate, and has a total area of 126 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, Longwen District had a resident population of 306,700. As of May 2023, Longwen District has one town and five streets under its jurisdiction, with the district government stationed at Longwen South Road, Lantian Street.
Longwen District is one of the four municipal districts in Zhangzhou, approved by the State Council on May 31, 1996, and formally established in January 1997. There are a number of cultural monuments in the territory, such as the national 4A level scenic spot Yun Dong Yan, which is known as "the first monument forest in southern Fujian", Cheng Ze Lou (Miss Lou), Fushan Guandi Temple, and the ruins of Pu Shan Temple, where the national treasure of Chinese medicine Pientzehuang originated. There are more than 200 cliff carvings in Yundongyan, such as the inscription of Xu Que of the Five Dynasties nearly 1100 years ago and the inscription of Zhu Xi of the Southern Song Dynasty more than 800 years ago. Throughout the ages, many celebrities have gathered here, such as Zhu Xi, Lin Jie, Feng Xi, Cai Lie, Huang Daozhou, and Venerable Hong Yi. It is an important ancestral home of Taiwan compatriots, and has been awarded the National Civilized City, National Health City, National Forest City, National Ecological Zone, and National Basic Balanced Compulsory Education Development Zone.
In 2022, Longwen District realized a gross regional product of 43.915 billion yuan, an increase of 7.0 over the previous year.
