Siming District, belonging to Xiamen City, Fujian Province, is the central city of Xiamen, the economic, political, cultural and financial center. It is located in the south of Xiamen (Xiamen Island), between latitude 24°26′ ~ 24°28′ N and longitude 118°03′ ~ 118°13′ E. It consists of the southern part of Xiamen Island and the whole of Gulangyu Island, connecting it with Huli District in the north, and the islands of Little Kinmen and Zhangzhou across the sea in the east, west, and south, and has a total area of 84 square kilometers. As of 2022, Siming District has 10 streets under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, the resident population of Siming District was 1.064 million.
Siming District, has a southern subtropical maritime monsoon climate. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast, with hills, tablelands and plains transitioning to the coast in turn. There are Lu Xun Memorial Hall, Heroic Little Eight Roads Memorial Hall, Female Militia Outpost, "8.23" Artillery Battle Site. The national key university Xiamen University, the third National Institute of Oceanography, Xiamen National Accounting Institute and other well-known educational and scientific research institutions, the city's key middle and elementary school and other major educational resources are also concentrated in the district.
In 2022, the cumulative gross regional product of Siming District will be 250.388 billion yuan, an increase of 5.2% over 2021.
