Yunyang County, located in the northeastern part of Chongqing Municipality, 310 kilometers away from the nine districts of the main city of Chongqing, is the Three Gorges Reservoir Ecological and Economic Zone along the river economic corridor to the east and west, the south leads to the north an important hub. It is connected with Fengjie County in the east, Wanzhou District in the west, Lichuan City in Enshi Prefecture of Hubei Province in the south, and bounded by Kaizhou District and Wuxi County in the north, with an area of 3,636 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Yunyang County has 4 streets, 31 towns, and 7 townships under its jurisdiction. As of 2022, Yanyang County had a resident population of 926,200 and a total household population of 1,315,700.
Yunyang County is listed in the National Cultural Relics Distribution Map with 145 cultural relics such as ancient buildings, ancient ruins, ancient tombs, stone carvings and statues, of which: one national cultural relics protection unit, three provincial-level protection units, and 16 county-level cultural relics protection units.In 2018, Yunyang County formally withdrew from the national poverty alleviation and development key counties.
In 2022, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Yunyang County was 55.769 billion yuan, an increase of 4.7% over the previous year. By industry, the added value of primary industry is 7.418 billion yuan, and the added value of secondary industry is 22.08 billion yuan. The added value of the tertiary industry is 26.271 billion yuan, and the structure of the three industries is adjusted to 13.3:39.6:47.1. In October 2023, it was selected as the 2023 benchmark city for business environment in Chongqing.
