Nanan District is one of the central urban areas of Chongqing, one of the main urban metropolitan areas of Chongqing, with two urban sub-centers, Nanping and Jiangnan New Town. Located on the south bank of the Yangtze River at the confluence of the Yangtze River and Jialing River, it is bordered by the Yangtze River in the west and north, with Jiulongpo District, Yuzhong District, and Jiangbei District across the river, and with Banan District in the east and south. By 2017, it managed eight streets and seven towns with a total area of 263.09 square kilometers; by the end of 2022, Nanan District had a resident population of 1.208 million. Nanan District will accelerate the construction of a landscape and humanities metropolitan area, a wisdom and innovation eco-city, and promote the construction of a twin-city economic circle in the Chengdu-Chongqing region. The tourism resources of Nanan District are mainly natural scenery and anti-war resources, mainly Nanshan Forest Park, Nanshan Botanical Garden, Yangren Street, Chongqing Antiwar Ruins Museum, etc. In 2022, the gross regional product of Nanan District will be 92.213 billion yuan, an increase of 0.1% over the previous year. Nanan District has won the honorary titles of National Sanitary City (District), National Civilized City, and the third batch of National Experimental Area of Community Governance and Service Innovation.On October 20, 2020, it was selected into the list of National Model Cities (Counties) of Double Embrace.
