Taiping Township is located in the west of Dianjiang County, 8 kilometers from the county seat. It has an area of 51.31 square kilometers and a population of more than 40,000 (2005). It has 2 neighborhood committees, Tai Gui Community and Tai He Community, and 12 administrative villages, including Song Hua, Qun Li, Gui Hua, Yong Qing, Yong Mao, Forever, Shiliang, Tian Xing, Daya, Jiulong, Xin Hua and Mudan, with 88 village (neighborhood) groups. It is crisscrossed by Yuwan and Hurong highways. There are national AA-level tourist areas, "Dianjiang Mudan Eco-tourism Area" which is called national agricultural tourism demonstration site, and Mingyue Mountain Scenic Spot which is Chongqing municipal-level scenic spot.
