Linquan County, belonging to Fuyang City, Anhui Province, is the northwest gateway of Anhui Province, located at the southwest end of the Yellow-Huai Plain and the northwest of Anhui Province. The geographic location is between 114°50′~115°31′ east longitude and 32°35′~33°09′ north latitude. Bordering nine counties and municipalities in Anhui and Henan provinces, the county is 62 kilometers wide from east to west and 68 kilometers longest from north to south, with a total area of 1,839 square kilometers. As of 2016, Linquan County has 5 streets, 21 towns, and 2 townships under its jurisdiction, with the county government stationed in Chengguan Street. As of the end of 2022, the resident population of Linquan County was 1,643,000 people.
Linquan, anciently known as Shendi. In 1042 BC, Dan Jizai, the 10th son of King Wen of Zhou, was feudalized here and established Shen (Zi) State. In the twenty-sixth year of Emperor Qin Shihuang (221 B.C.), the county of Nei was set up, and the county of Pingchi was set up in the west. Linquan County was formally established in January, 1935, and was located in Shenqiu, belonging to the Seventh Commissioner's Office of Anhui Province, and in 1996, it belonged to Fuyang City of Anhui Province. Linquan County has been awarded the "Hometown of Chinese Acrobatics", "National Advanced County of Culture", "National Advanced County of Sports", "National Advanced County of Scientific and Technological Progress", "China Advanced County of Acrobatics" and "China Advanced County of Scientific and Technological Progress". The "Hometown of Chinese Acrobatics", "National Advanced County of Culture", "National Advanced County of Sports", "National Advanced County of Scientific and Technological Progress", "Hometown of Chinese Folk Culture and Art", "National Ecological Demonstration Area", "China's Famous Green County", "National Advanced County of Grain Production", "National Pilot County of Human Resource Development", "National Top 100 Livestock Product Producing County", "Anhui Province Agricultural Industrialization Cooperation Demonstration County". In 2023, the county's gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to RMB 48.91 billion, a year-on-year growth of 7.6% at constant prices. By industry, the added value of primary industry is 10.24 billion yuan, up 4.7%; the added value of secondary industry is 11.76 billion yuan, up 10.0%; the added value of tertiary industry is 26.9 billion yuan, up 7.7%. The ratio of the three industries in the county is 20.9:24.1:55.0.
