Dinghai District, Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, municipal jurisdiction, is located in the northeast of Zhejiang Province, southeast of Shanghai East China Sea waters, Zhoushan Islands in the central and western, geographically located between 121 ° 38 ′ ~ 122 ° 15 ′ longitude, 29 ° 55 ′ ~ 30 ° 15 ′ north latitude. It has a typical subtropical oceanic monsoon climate, characterized by distinct alternating monsoons and four distinct seasons, with a total area of 1,444 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Dinghai District has 10 streets and 3 towns under its jurisdiction, with the district people's government stationed at 61 Changguo Road. As of the end of 2022, Dinghai District has a resident population of 507,000 people.
Dinghai District has a long history and a rich cultural heritage. As early as 6,000 years ago in the Neolithic Age, Dinghai's ancestors have been here to plow the sea and fish, and flourish. In the twenty-seventh year of the Kangxi Emperor of the Qing Dynasty (1688), Dinghai County was set up, and in January 1987, Zhoushan was abolished to establish a city, and Dinghai County was changed to Dinghai District. Within the territory of the existing "island Hemudu culture" known as the White Spring Crossroads and Ma Lao mound and other ancient cultural sites; thousand-year-old temple Zuyin Temple; Zhenyuan Fortress and the site of the Tucheng; the late Ming Dynasty anti-Qing Dynasty relics of the domain with the return of all the gods, the temple, Bajia Street, and other ancient architectural complexes. It has national tourist attractions including Nandong Art Valley, Opium War Ruins Park, Maao Museum, Jintang Immortal Mountain, Moon Bay Scenic Area, Wanhua Valley, Xu Zhengguo Museum, Zhoushan Hall of Fame, Sanmao Ancestral Residence, and Lizi Yuan. The area is surrounded by 5 seas, including Gray Turtle Sea, Hengshui Sea, Zhitou Sea, Huangda Sea and Dacat Sea, with many harbors, such as Dinghai Harbor, Laotangshan Harbor, West Dock Harbor, Cen Harbor, Jintang, Maao, Laooshan, and Pamphlet, and other good harbors.
In 2022, Dinghai District realized a gross domestic product (GDP) of 65.798 billion yuan, with an incremental GDP of 5.266 billion yuan and a nominal GDP growth rate of 8.70%.
