Tangdan Town, belonging to Dongchuan District, Kunming, Yunnan Province, is located in the northwestern part of Dongchuan District, east of Tongdu Street, Wulong Town, and Huize County, Qujing City, south of Hongtudi Town, west of Inmin Town, Sheblock Township, and north of Dragbuka Township, 38 kilometers away from the People's Government of Dongchuan District, with a total regional area of 291.51 square kilometers. As of the end of 2019, the registered population of Tangdan Township was 41,229.
During the Qing Dynasty, the territory of the current Tangdan Township belonged to Dongchuan Prefecture; in 1988, it was changed from Dongchuan District Office to Dongchuan Township. As of June 2020, Tangdan Town has 2 communities and 26 administrative villages under its jurisdiction, with the town's people's government stationed at 4 Caiyuan Street.
