Changning County, belonging to Baoshan City, Yunnan Province, is located in the western part of Yunnan Province, and was established in 1933 by Baoshan Yongchang and Shuning Fengqing, taking the name of the two places as the name of the county after a word. Changning County is connected to Fengqing County in the east, Longyang District and Shidian County in the west, Yongde County in the south, and Yongping County, Yangbi Yi Autonomous County, and Weishan Yi Hui Autonomous County in the north. As of 2020, Changning County has 9 towns and 4 townships under its jurisdiction, with a total area of 3,888 square kilometers. In October 2017, Changning County was named a national garden county by the Ministry of Housing and Construction.On April 30, 2019, the People's Government of Yunnan Province decided that Changning County would withdraw from the sequence of poverty-stricken counties.On February 2, 2019, Changning County was rated as a county-level advanced unit of national grassroots traditional Chinese medicine by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.On July 29, 2020, Changning County was selected to be named on the 2017-2019 cycle of the National Sanitary Townships (County Cities) list.On October 9, 2020, it was awarded the title of the fourth batch of national ecological civilization construction demonstration cities and counties by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.
