Xiaodian District, belonging to Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, is located in the southeast of Taiyuan City and the northern end of Jinzhong Basin. It borders Yuji District of Jinzhong City in the east, adjoins Qingxu County in the south, is separated from Jinyuan District across the Fen River in the west, and is connected to Yingze District as far as South Inner Ring Street in the north. Geographic coordinates are located in latitude 37 ° 36 ′ ~ 37 ° 49 ′, longitude 112 ° 24 ′ ~ 112 ° 43 ′ between the entire area of 295 square kilometers. Xiaodian District territory is high in the northeast and low in the southwest; the territory has a warm temperate continental monsoon climate. Xiaodian District territory belongs to Jin in the Spring and Autumn Period, and belongs to Zhao after the division of Jin by Han, Zhao and Wei.On March 12, 1957, the establishment of Xiaodian District was abolished, and the suburb of Taiyuan was established.On March 26, 1970, the establishment of the suburb of Taiyuan was abolished, and the suburb of Nanjiao District and the suburb of Beijiao District were newly set up.On December 12, 1997, Taiyuan adjusted its district administration division, and set up the new Xiaodian District.On January 1, 1998, the Xiaodian District was set up. As of October 2021, Xiaodian District has seven streets, one town and two townships under its jurisdiction, with the district people's government stationed at No. 19, Changsheng West Street.
In 2023, the regional GDP of Xiaodian District completed 158.062 billion yuan, an increase of 2.1%. Value added of service industry completed 72.757 billion yuan, an increase of 3.8%. Total retail sales of consumer goods completed 70.386 billion yuan, an increase of 9%. Fixed asset investment completed 39.347 billion yuan. Xiaodian District general public budget revenue completed 2.578 billion yuan, an increase of 15.1%. Disposable income per capita of urban and rural residents increased by 4.7% and 8.1% respectively.
