Hongdong (tóng) County, belonging to Linfen City, Shanxi Province, is located in the south of Shanxi Province and the northern end of the Linfen Basin, neighboring Gu County to the east across Huoshan, Pu County to the west by Lvliang, adjoining Huozhou and Fenxi in the north, and bordering with Yaodu District in the south, with a total area of 1,494 square kilometers. Hongdong is named after "Hongya" in the south of the city and "Gudong" in the north of the city.
