Chang'an District, part of Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, is located in the southern part of Xi'an City, bordered by Lantian County to the east, Ningsha County and Zhashui County to the south, Shuangyi District and Xianyang City to the west, and Yanta and Baqiao Districts to the north, with an area of 1,583 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Chang'an District has 25 streets under its jurisdiction, with 16 streets under its actual jurisdiction.In 2021, Chang'an District had a resident population of 1.111 million.
Chang'an has been a capital city since ancient times. In Xia, it belonged to Yongzhou. During the Shang Dynasty, it belonged to Li Rong. During the Western Zhou Dynasty, King Wen and King Wu successively built their capitals here, which were called Fengjing and Haojing. In the fifth year of Gaozu of the Western Han Dynasty (202 BC), Chang'an County was set up.On July 22, 2002, Chang'an County of Xi'an City was abolished, and Chang'an District of Xi'an City was set up, with the former administrative area of Chang'an County as the administrative area of Chang'an District.On December 6, 2019, Chang'an District was named one of the top 100 counties (districts) in the country for the year of 2019.In April 2020, Chang'an District was named as the 2020 top 100 counties and cities of China's night economic prosperity. In October 2023, it was named the third batch of national agricultural product quality safety counties.
In 2021, Chang'an District's GDP was 126.945 billion yuan, per capita GDP was 115,321 yuan, and per capita disposable income of residents was 36,041 yuan.
