Hedong District, belongs to Linyi City, Shandong Province. It is located in the southeast of Shandong Province and the east of Linyi City. It is contiguous with Junan County and Linshu County in the east, Tancheng County in the south, Lanshan District in the west across the Yi River, and Yinan County in the north, with a total area of 613.39 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Hedong District has 8 streets and 3 towns under its jurisdiction.
Hedong is the birthplace of Dongyi civilization and ancient Shang culture, and was named after the district's boundary east of the Yi River. In the Sui Dynasty, Linyi County was established from the area of Yiqiu County; in 1983, it belonged to the county-level Linyi City; in 1994, the county-level Linyi City was abolished and divided into Lanshan District, Luozhuang District and Hedong District.
In 2021, the gross regional product of Hedong District was 34.79 billion yuan, an increase of 10.3%. Among them, the added value of primary industry is 1.69 billion yuan, the added value of secondary industry is 10.67 billion yuan; the added value of tertiary industry is 22.43 billion yuan, an increase of 10.1%.
