Suining, also known as Doucheng and Suizhou, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Sichuan Province, located in the central part of the Sichuan Basin, equidistant from Chongqing Municipality and Chengdu Municipality; it is the regional central city of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Zone, the modern industrial base of Sichuan Province, and a modern eco-garden city characterized by the "Nurturing the Heart" culture, with a total area of 5,322.25 km2 as of October 2022, under the jurisdiction of two municipal districts, two counties and one county-level city. As of October 2022, it has 2 municipal districts, 2 counties and 1 county-level city under its jurisdiction. It is located in a hilly and low mountainous area with a subtropical humid monsoon climate. The municipal government is located in Funshan District.At the end of 2022, Suining had a resident population of 2.772 million. Suining is located in the main axis of urbanization development in Sichuan Province, is one of the "six metropolitan areas" in Sichuan Province, and is an important part of the Chengdu Plain Urban Agglomeration. It is also an important gateway hub in the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin Cities Economic Circle and a green economic powerhouse in the Chengdu-Chongqing Development Axis. It is China's excellent tourist city, national model city of double embracing, national civilized city, global green city, national garden city, international garden city, national sanitary city, China's top ten livable cities. Suining City is an important part of Ba Shu civilization, an important birthplace of Chinese Guanyin culture, known as "the hometown of Chinese Guanyin culture"; the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Yonghe three years (347), Huan Wen Ping Shu, set Suining County. It was named after Huan Wen's pacification of Shu in the third year of Yonghe of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (347), and was established as Suining County, which symbolizes "calming down the war and getting peace". It has been the seat of counties, prefectures, prefectures, specialized departments and counties. In 1985, Suining was established as a prefecture-level city, with the name of "Dongchuan Huyi", "Chuanzhong Zhongzhu", "Wenxian Bang", "Dongshu Capital", and "Dongshu Capital". In 2023, Suining realized a gross regional product of 171.497 billion yuan, an increase of 6.7%.
