Kaijiang County, belonging to Dazhou City, Sichuan Province, is located in the eastern part of Sichuan, at the southern foot of the Daba Mountains, connecting Kaizhou and Wanzhou Districts of Chongqing Municipality in the east, Liangping District of Chongqing Municipality in the south, Dachuan District of Sichuan Province in the west, and Xuanhan County of Sichuan Province in the north, with a total area of 1,032.55 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Kaijiang County has 1 street, 11 towns and 1 township under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, the resident population of Kaijiang County was 410,500 people.
Kaijiang since the North and South Dynasties of the Western Wei Dynasty Wudi two years (553 years) set up the county, the old name of Xinning County, has a history of more than 1,400 years, the Republic of China three years (1914) in August, set the current name has been followed to date. There are intangible cultural heritages, such as the Arguing Stick, Gripping Rice-planting Song, Stone Worker's Horn, Dragon Dance, Colorful Pavilion, Stilts, etc., and cultural relics and monuments, such as Fan Kuai Monument on E Cheng Mountain, Gemstone Old County Dam, Shuang Niushan Mountain, Rende Bridge, Baoquan Pagoda, etc., which are famous for their culture in BaShu. Gantang Hu's Jiexiaofang and Renshi Taopaifang are national key cultural relics protection units, and Gantang Fire Dragon Lantern Festival has become a Sichuan and Chongqing folk culture brand. Kaijiang is an old revolutionary area, which has nurtured more than 300 heroic revolutionary sons and daughters such as Xu Yanguang, Tang Zaigang and Qin Wen.
In 2022, Kaijiang County will realize a gross domestic product (GDP) of 16.61 billion yuan, of which the added value of the primary industry will be 4.24 billion yuan, the added value of the secondary industry will be 4.64 billion yuan, and the added value of the tertiary industry will be 7.73 billion yuan. The structure ratio of the three industries is adjusted to 25.5:27.9:46.6.
