Sekong (Lao ຊກາາງ) is a city in Laos. It is the capital of Sekong Province. It was established in 1984. The local government decided to establish the city of Sekong due to the fact that there were many unexploded ordnance (UXO) in Ban Phong, which made the area unfit for human life. Geographic location 15/24/36/north latitude, 106/42/0/east longitude. Close to the Bulawan Plateau. Population 20,000. Many ethnic minorities.
