Xunwu County, Jiangxi Province, Ganzhou City County, Wanli four years (1576) founded the county, named Changning County, Republic of China 3 years (1914) changed to Xunwu County, approved by the State Council in 1957, the county name Xunwu changed to Xunwu. Located in southeastern Jiangxi, Xunwu County resides at the junction of Gan, Fujian and Guangdong provinces, neighboring Wuping County of Fujian Province and Pingyuan County of Guangdong Province in the east, Xingning City and Longchuan County of Guangdong Province in the south, adjacent to Anyuan and Dingnan counties in the west, and connected to Huichang County in the north; the county covers a land area of 2,351 square kilometers. As of 2017, Xunwu County has 15 townships (towns), 173 administrative villages and 11 neighborhood committees. According to the seventh census data, as of zero hour on November 1, 2020, the resident population of Xunwu County is 280,219 people.
Xunwu is a Hakka settlement, the cradle of Hakka, and in 2013, it was formally included in the Hakka Culture (Gannan) Ecological Protection Experimental Zone by the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China. Xunwu is a red homeland with glorious revolutionary traditions, where Mao Zedong, Zhu De, Deng Xiaoping and other proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation had engaged in great revolutionary practices. Comrade Mao Zedong wrote chapters in Xunwu, such as "Xunwu Survey" and "Against Capitalism".On April 28, 2019, the People's Government of Jiangxi Province decided that Xunwu County should withdraw from the poverty-stricken counties.On October 9, 2020, it was awarded the title of the fourth batch of national ecological civilization construction demonstration cities and counties by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.
In 2021, Seeking Wu County realized a gross domestic product (GDP) of 11.483 billion yuan, an increase of 9.0% over 2020 at comparable prices.
