Xuyi County, a county under the jurisdiction of Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province, is located in the Yangtze River Delta region, southwest of Huai'an, downstream of the Huai River, on the south shore of Lake Hongze, and in the east-central part of the Jianghuai Plain; it is bordered on the east by Jinhu County and Tianchang City of Chuzhou, on the south and west by Tianchang City of Chuzhou City, Lai'an County of Chuzhou City, and Mingguang City, and on the north to the northeast by Sihong County and Hongze District, respectively.At the end of 2022, Xuyi County had a resident population of 603,900 people with an urbanization rate of 62.13%. Xuyi County is located in the transition region between the northern subtropical zone and the warm temperate zone, with a monsoon humid climate. The terrain is high in the southwest and hilly, low in the northeast and plain; it is terraced and inclined, with a difference in elevation of more than 220 meters. The Huai River flows through the territory, and the east and north are bordered by Hongze Lake, with a variety of landforms such as low mountains, hills, plains, and river and lake polder areas. Xuyi has many cultural and tourism resources, and has been awarded the honorary title of "China's Strongest County in Tourism", etc. In 2016, Xuyi was awarded the second batch of National Model Area for Territorial Tourism by the National Tourism Administration. Xuyi was founded in the Han Dynasty and was the seat of the ancient Sizhou Prefecture, a famous city in the Tang and Song dynasties, which gave birth to the founding emperor Zhu Yuanzhang. There are numerous monuments in the area, and the world's earliest comet orbiting chart and a Chenzhang round pot from the Warring States period have been unearthed in the area.In October 2018, it was selected as one of the top 100 counties and cities in the country in terms of investment potential for the year 2018.On July 29, 2020, it was selected as one of the national hygienic townships (counties and cities) named in the 2017-2019 cycle. In 2022, Xuyi County will realize a gross regional product of 52.508 billion yuan, an increase of 3.8%, with a three-industry structure of 15.6:38.7:45.7.
