Gan (Hán) Jiang District, belonging to Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province, is located in the central part of Jiangsu Province, the belly of the Yangtze River Delta, the confluence of the Yangtze River and the Huaihe River, east of Shanghai, west of Nanjing, south of the Yangtze River, north of the Huaihe River, and center of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, with a total area of 552.68 square kilometers. As of June 2023, Ganjiang District has 11 streets, 6 towns and 1 township under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, Ganjiang District (including Shugang-Skinny West Lake Scenic Area) has a resident population of 858,900 people. Ganjiang River has a history of more than 2,500 years, named after King Fu-chai of Wu, who opened the General River Ditch and built Generali City. Ganjiang is the birthplace of ancient Yangzhou, known as "famous capital of Huazuo" and "good place of Bamboo West", with Gaomen Temple, Daming Temple, Shaobo Lake, Song Jiecheng, Tomb of King Guangling of Han Dynasty, ruins of Tangcheng, Mausoleum of Emperor Yang, and other scenic spots in its territory. It is the seat of Yangzhou Municipal Party Committee and Yangzhou Municipal People's Government. In 2022, Ganjiang District (including Shugang-Skinny West Lake Scenic Area) realized a GDP of 124.665 billion yuan, divided into industries, the added value of the primary industry is 2.353 billion yuan, the added value of the secondary industry is 50.527 billion yuan, and the added value of the tertiary industry is 71.785 billion yuan. The ratio of added value of the three industries for the whole year was adjusted to 2:42.8:55.2. The per capita GDP (calculated according to the resident population) was 144,650,000 yuan.
