Xinwu District, a municipal district of Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, with the Wuxi High-Tech Zone under the "district government" management system, is located in the southeastern part of the city of Wuxi, bordering Suzhou to the east and south, with a total area of 220 square kilometers. As of October 2021, Xinwu District has six streets and four parks under its jurisdiction, with the district people's government residing in Xin'an Street. According to the seventh census, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, the resident population of Xinwu District was 720,215 people.
Established in November 2015, Xinwu District, which was formerly known as Wuxi New District, is one of the birthplaces of Wu culture and is rich in historical and cultural resources, represented by the Tai Bo and Wu cultural attractions consisting of Tai Bo Mausoleum, Tai Bo Temple, Bo Dudu River, and Hongshan Ruins Museum. Xinwu District has been successfully approved as National Sensor Network Innovation Demonstration Zone, National Innovative Park, National Eco-Industrial Demonstration Park, National Intellectual Property Pilot Park, etc. In December 2016, Xinwu District was successfully created as Provincial Community Education Demonstration Zone. in November 2018, it was selected as one of the Top 100 Industrial Districts in 2018.
In 2021, Xinwu District realized a gross regional product of 227.106 billion yuan, with the first growth rate in Wuxi City. The growth rate of major economic indicators led Wuxi, completing general budget revenue of 24.33 billion yuan, the growth rate ranked first among the six development zones in southern Jiangsu. The total output value of regulated industry exceeded 550 billion yuan, the value added was the first in the city, and the investment in fixed assets exceeded 75 billion yuan.
