Kunshan City, ancient name Louyi, also known as Lucheng, county-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province, administered by Suzhou City, is a pilot city directly under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province, for the Ⅱ big city, located in the southeast of Jiangsu Province, between Shanghai and Suzhou City, north to the northeast and Changshu City, Taicang City, north to the southeast and Jiading District, Shanghai, Qingpu District, south to the southeast, and Suzhou City District, the west and Suzhou City District, Wujiang District, is the Yangtze River Delta Taihu Lake plain, the north subtropical southern monsoon climate; as of the end of 2022, the city has 10 towns under its jurisdiction, with a total area of 931 square kilometers, a household population of 1,203,900, and a resident population of 2,125,200. The city of Kunshan has been in existence for more than 2,200 years since it was established as a county during the Qin Dynasty. In 536, Lou County was renamed Kunshan County, and in 1989, the State Council approved the establishment of Kunshan as a city. Kunshan City is the birthplace of Kunqu, the ancestor of a hundred operas, and has won the UN Habitat Award, and was named one of the first "National Ecological Garden City". The city has been named one of the top 100 counties and cities in the country in terms of comprehensive strength, one of the top 100 counties and cities in the country in terms of green development, and one of the top 100 counties and cities in the country in terms of quality of new urbanization. Long history, profound culture and unique natural landscape constitute the tourism resources of Kunshan. Kunqu, the oral and intangible cultural heritage of mankind, Zhouzhuang, the water town, and hairy crabs of Yangcheng Lake are the three international-level business cards of Kunshan. In 2023, Kunshan City accomplished a regional GDP of 514.060 billion yuan, an increase of 5.0% over the previous year at comparable prices.
