Park Overview
Established in 2005, the Kunshan German Industrial Park serves as a key investment platform for European and American companies. Covering an area of 15 square kilometers, the park is located in Zhangpu Town, Kunshan City. Zhangpu Town is situated at the heart of Kunshan’s urban area and is one of China’s 25 pilot towns for administrative system reform.Situated 27 kilometers from Suzhou, 43 kilometers from Shanghai, 110 kilometers from Hangzhou, and 245 kilometers from Nanjing, the park benefits from integrated water, land, and air transportation, forming a convenient and dense modern transportation network. The park’s master plan was developed by the U.S.-based firm Westwood Group, which established the layout and placement of roads, green spaces, water systems, utility lines, and key infrastructure. Additionally, the park collaborated with the China Academy of Art to create a unified design for its landscaping, signage system, and promotional media. Currently, 123 European and American companies have established operations within the Kunshan German Industrial Park, including 55 German-funded enterprises. Among these are seven Fortune 500 companies: VF Corporation, General Mills, Kellogg’s, TE Connectivity, Tiantai Group, Yihai Kerry, and Xinxiang Group. The total investment by European and American enterprises within the park is nearly $1 billion, with annual sales reaching 10 billion yuan. In 2013, the German Industrial Park was designated by China’s Ministry of Science and Technology as the “National Kunshan Sino-German International Science and Technology Cooperation Base” and the “National Specialized Industrial Base for Precision Machinery.” In 2016, it was approved as the Sino-German (Kunshan) Key Industrial Technology Cooperation Zone.
