Yuhuatai District is located in the central part of Nanjing, one of the eight districts in the main city of Nanjing, an important national center for software industry and information service, an important transportation hub, innovation base and R&D center for emerging industries in the eastern part of the country, and a demonstration area of China's software city with software and information service and science and technology service as the leading industries.
The establishment of Yuhuatai District began in 1934, the 23rd year of the Republic of China (1934), originating from the 11th District (Shangxinhe District) during the Republic of China period, and was named Yuhuatai District because Yuhuatai was located in the territory. Yuhuatai District has a variety of landforms, including water, mountains, dikes, and continents. There are foothills such as General Mountain, Niushou Mountain, and Daishan Mountain Range, rivers and lakes such as Qinhuai River, Dashi Lake, and Shizha Lake, and famous scenic spots such as Yuhuatai Scenic Spot, General Mountain Scenic Spot, and the Tomb of King Robert the Hunter, which is Nanjing's "green ecological corridor".
Yuhuatai District is a national demonstration base for new industrialization (software and information service industry), and has formed "five industrial clusters", including communication software and operation and maintenance service cluster, cloud computing big data and information security industry cluster, Internet industry cluster, artificial intelligence and intelligent terminal industry cluster, flagship economy, and gradually build the formation of high-end software development system led by IC design, virtual reality, artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge fields.
As of 2020, Yuhuatai District has 7 streets and 59 communities under its jurisdiction, with a total area of 132.39 square kilometers, a resident population of 608,800, and a gross regional product of 94.714 billion yuan.
