Lishui District, a district of Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, is located in the south-central part of Nanjing, with a total area of 1,067 square kilometers, bordering Jurong City and Liyang City, Changzhou City, to the east, Bowang District, Ma'anshan City, Anhui Province, to the west, Jiangning District, to the north, and Gaochun District, to the south. As of 2023, it has jurisdiction over 5 streets, 3 towns, and 1 provincial-level development zone. The district people's government is located at No. 68, Dadongmen Street. As of the end of 2022, the resident population of the district was 509,400, of which 338,900 were urban, and the urbanization rate of the resident population was 66.53%.
Lishui was established in the 11th year of Kaihuang of Sui Dynasty (591), and then went through many changes of establishment. on April 25, 1949, after the liberation of Lishui, it belonged to Zhenjiang Prefecture of Southern Jiangsu Administrative Office. in March 1983, Lishui County was transferred back to the jurisdiction of Nanjing from Zhenjiang Prefecture. in February 2013, Lishui County was abolished, and Lishui District of Nanjing City was established. Li Bai, Yan Zhenqing, Yang Wanli and other literati have traveled to Lishui and left a large number of poems praising Lishui. Lishui has many cultural relics such as Wuxi Temple, one of the four hundred and eighty temples in the Southern Dynasty, Wuxi Mountain cliff carvings, Tiansheng Bridge, Rouge River, Changle Bridge, Putang Bridge, Yongshou Pagoda, Emperor's Son-in-law's Tomb and other cultural relics, as well as Zhongshan Milli, the School Officials' Monument, the Luoshan Great Dragon and the forging technique of Mingjue Iron Painting.
Lishui District has been awarded the titles of National Garden City, National Sanitary City, National Ecological Zone, National Ecological Civilization Construction Demonstration Zone, National Top 100 Comprehensive Strength Zone, National Top 100 Investment Potential Zone, National Top 100 Science and Technology Innovation Zone, National Top 100 Green Development Zone and so on. With convenient transportation, the district is a three-dimensional hub city integrating airports, railroads, rail transportation, highways and waterways; the district has a good ecological environment, with a forest coverage rate of 35.88%, air quality up to the national secondary standard, and water quality up to the national class II standard.
In 2022, Lishui District will realize a regional GDP of 103.401 billion yuan, a per capita disposable income of 53,200 yuan, and an annual general public budget revenue of 5.720 billion yuan.
