Yitong Manchu Autonomous County is part of Siping City, Jilin Province. Located in central Jilin Province, the upper reaches of the Yitong River, south of the provincial capital Changchun City, east and Changchun Shuangyang District, southeast of the border with Panshi City, south of Dongfeng, Dongliao two counties, southwest of Lishu County as a neighbor, southwest of the northwest and Gongzhuling City, north of Changchun City, adjacent to the suburbs. The whole territory is 76 kilometers long east to west, 66 kilometers wide north to south, with an area of 2527.1 square kilometers. According to the seventh population census, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, the resident population of Yitong Manchu Autonomous County was 331,873 people. As of October 2021, Yitong County has 2 streets, 12 towns and 3 villages under its jurisdiction.
The name "Yitong" is a Manchu transliteration of the name Yitong River, meaning "grand, raging river". It was first elevated to Yitong Prefecture in 1882, and then to Yitong Zhili Prefecture in the first year of Xuantong (1909), and in 1913, the Prefecture was abolished and a county was established; on August 30, 1988, Yitong County was abolished and Yitong Manchu Autonomous County was established. It is one of the second batch of National Regional Tourism Demonstration Areas, the sixth batch of National Model Areas (Units) for the Creation of Progress in Ethnic Solidarity, and the second batch of National Agricultural Product Quality Safety Counties.
In 2021, the gross regional product of Yitong Manchu Autonomous County was 1,028,764,000 yuan, an increase of 10.3%. Among them, the added value of primary industry is 4,638,430,000 Yuan, the added value of secondary industry is 777,050,000 Yuan; the added value of tertiary industry is 487,216,000 Yuan, an increase of 13%.
