Zhaoyuan County, belonging to Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, is located in the southwestern part of Heilongjiang Province, on the left bank of the Songnen and Neneng rivers, in the hinterland of the Songnen Plain, with geographic coordinates between longitude 123°47'~125°45'E and latitude 45°23'~45°59'N. It has a mid-temperate continental monsoon climate, and covers a total area of 4,119.5 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, Zhaoyuan County had a population of 430,000 people. As of June 2023, Zhaoyuan County has 8 towns and 8 townships under its jurisdiction, with the county people's government located at 290 Nenjiang Street (formerly Government Street) in Zhaoyuan Township.
With a history of 6,500 years, Zhao Yuan County was once the hinterland of Liao and Jin, the hereditary seat of the Yuan and Qing princes, the hometown of Queen Qitian of Liao, and the place where Wanyan Aguida made his mark. Qing Shunzhi five years (1648), set up Guoerros after the flag, this is the beginning of the flag rule. 1956, renamed Zhao Yuan County. 1992, the transfer of Daqing City jurisdiction.
