Luoyang City, abbreviated as "Luo", anciently known as Shendu, Luoyi and Luoging, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Henan Province, a World City of Culture, one of the first National Famous Historical and Cultural Cities, a national regional central city, a vice-center of the Central Plains Urban Agglomeration, and an important node city of the "One Belt and One Road", and a third-tier city. It is a third-tier city, the deputy center city of Henan Province and a famous tourist city approved by the State Council. Located in the western part of Henan Province, it straddles the north and south banks of the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River, neighboring Zhengzhou City in the east, Sanmenxia City in the west, Pingdingshan City and Nanyang City in the south, and Jiyuan and Jiaozuo City in the north, with a total area of 15,230 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, Luoyang City has a total of seven municipal districts, seven counties and one development zone; its resident population is 7.079 million.
Luoyang is located in the middle of the world, named after the Yang of the Luo River, with a history of more than 5,000 years of civilization, more than 4,000 years of urban history, more than 1,500 years of history of founding the capital, is one of the birthplaces of the Chinese civilization, the starting point of the Silk Road in the East, and the center of the Great Canal of the Sui and Tang dynasties. Historically, 13 dynasties have built their capitals here, making it the earliest, longest and most dynastic city in China. Luoyang City, one of the world's four sacred cities, Taoism originated here, Confucianism flourished here, the first transmission of Buddhism here, Luoyang City, there are Erlitou ruins, Yanshi Mall ruins, the ruins of the Eastern Zhou Wangcheng, the ruins of the Han and Wei Luoyang City, the ruins of the Sui and Tang Dynasty Luoyang City and other five major city ruins, the Longmen Grottoes, the Grand Canal of China (back to the Luocang and the ruins of the Jiajia Cang), the Silk Road (the Imperial City of Han and Wei Dynasty, the Sui and Tang Dynasty Luoyang City Ding Ding Gate, the Xin'an Han Hangu Pass Ruins) and so on 3 six World Heritage Sites. The city of Luoyang has three and six world cultural heritages. By the end of 2022, there are 66 A-class tourist attractions in Luoyang. Among them, there are 5 5A-level scenic spots, 30 4A-level scenic spots and 26 3A-level scenic spots. Luoyang has been awarded the titles of China's Outstanding Tourist City, National Garden City, National Sanitary City and National Civilized City.
In 2022, Luoyang city will realize a regional GDP of 567.52 billion yuan, an increase of 3.0% over the previous year at comparable prices. The per capita GDP will be 80,226 yuan, an increase of 2.8%.
