Hengshui City, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Hebei Province, is located in the southeastern part of Hebei Province, between longitude 115°10′-116°34′ E and latitude 37°03′-38°23′ N. It is bordered by Cangzhou City in the east and Dezhou City in Shandong Province, Shijiazhuang City and Xinji City in the west, Xingtai City in the south, and Baoding City and Cangzhou City in the north, with a total area of 8,836 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, the resident population of Hengshui City was 4,166,500 people. Hengshui City has 2 municipal districts, 1 county-level city and 8 counties. Hengshui City belongs to the Bohai Economic Circle and the Capital Economic Circle of the "1 + 9 + 3" program of the southern part of Beijing, for the Bohai Sea Regional Cooperation Mayors Joint Conference members of the city, by Fei Xiaotong called "the golden crossroads".
Hengshui City under the jurisdiction of Jizhou is the first of the nine states. Hebei Province is called Jizhou, because of which famous figures such as Dong Zhongshu, Kong Yinda, Gao Shi and Sun Li have emerged. Hengshui City is located in the alluvial plain of Hebei Province, with the terrain sloping slowly from southwest to northeast and the altitude ranging from 12 to 30 meters above sea level. It belongs to the continental monsoon climate zone, which is warm and semi-arid type.
Hengshui City is an important agricultural and sideline product processing and supply base for Beijing and Tianjin, and has been awarded the honorary titles of National Water-saving City and Model City of Priority Development of Public Transportation in Hebei Province.In 2023, Hengshui City achieved a GDP of 188.81 billion yuan.
