Yongchang County, Gansu Province, under the jurisdiction of Jinchang County, is located in northwestern Gansu Province, is located in the eastern part of the Hexi Corridor, the northern foot of the Qilian Mountains, the southern edge of the Alxa Plateau, east of Wuwei, north of Jinchuan, west of the welcome to the Shandan, south of Su'nan border, the realm south of the Qilian Mountains, the realm north of the Longshoushan Mountain, located in the mid-latitude, deep inland, is the mesothermal continental arid climate, with a total area of 7,439.27 square kilometers. As of 2024, the county has nine towns and one township under its jurisdiction. By the end of 2022, the county had a resident population of 172,900.
The establishment of administrative regions named after Yongchang was first seen in 1278, when it was called "Yongchang Road". In the 15th year of Hongwu of Ming Dynasty (1382), Yongchang Wei was set up in the Yongchang King's Office at the sun of Jinshan. Qing Yongzheng three years (1725) to change the guard for the county, take "forever prosperous" meaning and name. The county is located in the Qilian mountain system and Longshou mountain system, the narrow plains between the Wudang Mountains, is the county's political, economic and cultural center. The national cultural relics protection units are Yongchang Bell and Drum Tower and Han and Ming Great Wall and the city barricades and beacon flints along the line, leaving numerous cultural relics and rich humanistic landscapes.In December 2016, it was named the National Agricultural Products Quality Safety County.On October 10, 2018, the Gansu Provincial Government approved the exit of Yongchang County from the poverty-stricken counties.On July 29, 2020, it was selected to be the national sanitary townships in the cycle of 2017-2019 ( county) naming list.
In 2022, Yongchang County realized a gross regional product of 11.284 billion yuan, an increase of 7.6% over the previous year at comparable prices.
