Ning County, belongs to Qingyang City, Gansu Province. It is located in the southeastern part of Gansu, separated from Fu County and Huangling County in Shaanxi Province to the east. To the southeast, it is adjacent to Zhengning County. To the southwest, it is divided from Jingchuan County in Pingliang City and Changwu County in Shaanxi Province by the Pu River and Jingshui. To the northwest, it borders Xifeng District. To the north, it borders Heshui County, with a total area of 2,653.38 square kilometers.In 2022, Ning County had a household population of 551,800 and a resident population of 331,700. As of October 2021, Ning County has 14 towns and 4 townships under its jurisdiction.
In the Spring and Autumn and Warring States period, Yiqu County was set up, and Beidi County was placed under its rule. In 1913, Ning County was changed from Ningzhou to Ning County. 2002, it belonged to Qingyang City. in February 2020, the People's Government of Gansu Province approved Ning County to withdraw from the poverty-stricken counties.
