Simapu Town, belonging to Chaonan District, Shantou City, Guangdong Province, is located in the western part of Chaonan District, on the south bank of the middle reaches of the Lianjiang River, east of Xiaoshan Street, south of Lioying Town, west of Chendian Town, Xiancheng Town, north to northeast of the Chaoyang District, Guiyu Town, Tong Yu Town, across the Lianjiang River. The total area of the administrative region is 30.64 square kilometers. As of the end of 2019, the household population of Simapu Town was 143,157. According to the seventh census data, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, the resident population of Simapu Town was 126,228 people.
From Ming and Qing dynasties to the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Simapu belonged to Yangwudu and Huanglongdu of Chaoyang County. In 1921, Simapu belonged to the Ninth District, and at the end of 1983, it was renamed Simapu District, and in November 1986, it was changed from a district to Simapu Town. As of June 2020, Simapu Town has 6 communities and 13 administrative villages under its jurisdiction. The town government is located in Simapu Township, Si Shen Road.
In 2020, Simapu Town completed the gross regional product of 5.85229 billion yuan, an increase of 2.3% year-on-year; the total output value of regulated industry is 11.148 billion yuan, an increase of 3.4% year-on-year; the total output value of business service industry is 186 million yuan, an increase of 4% year-on-year. The total output value of agriculture was 186.7 million yuan. Annual investment in fixed assets totaled 2,393.97 million yuan.
