Zhuhai, prefecture-level city in Guangdong Province, the provincial sub-center city, type II large city, located in latitude 21 ° 48 '~ 22 ° 27', longitude 113 ° 03 '~ 114 ° 19', is located in the south of Guangdong Province, the Pearl River estuary on the west bank of the South China Sea, bordering on the South China Sea, with a land area of 1,725 square kilometers, the territorial sea within the baseline of the sea area of 9348 square kilometers. It has three administrative districts, namely Xiangzhou District, Doumen District and Jinwan District. As of the end of 2022, Zhuhai had a resident population of 2,477,200, with an urbanization rate of 90.76%.
Most of Zhuhai City was under the jurisdiction of Zhongshan County (formerly known as Xiangshan County) from the Southern Song Dynasty until the Republic of China. Zhuhai was founded in 1979 and established as a special economic zone in 1980, one of the first special economic zones in China. It is the only city in Mainland China that is connected by land to Hong Kong, China and Macau, China at the same time. Important port city with five land transportation ports at Gongbei, Hengqin, Qingmao, Zhuhai Highway of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and Zhuhai-Macao Cross-border Industrial Zone, and five water transportation ports at Jiuzhou Harbor, Wanzai Harbor Ferry Passenger Transportation, Zhuhai Harbor, Doumen Harbor and Wanshan Harbor, totaling 10 Class I ports of the country, making it China's second-largest port city only after Shenzhen.
In 2023, Zhuhai City will realize a GDP of 423.322 billion yuan and complete a general public budget revenue of 48.241 billion yuan.
