Park Overview
The Zhuhai Economic and Technological Development Zone is located in the southwestern part of Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province. It is an economic zone established around Gaolan Port, the main hub port on the southern coast of China, and covers a total area of 380 square kilometers. In March 2012, it was approved by the State Council to be upgraded to a national-level economic and technological development zone, officially named the “Zhuhai Economic and Technological Development Zone,” becoming the first national-level economic and technological development zone on the western shore of the Pearl River Estuary. The Gaolan Port Economic Zone possesses the only deep-water port resources on the western bank of the Pearl River Estuary. It can accommodate more than 150 berths ranging from 10,000 to 300,000 tons, with an annual throughput capacity of over 200 million tons. Looking across the southern coast, Gaolan Port’s geographical advantages are irreplaceable. With the continuous improvement of the logistics system, the opening of the Guangzhou-Zhuhai Railway and the Gaolan Port Expressway, and the in-depth implementation of the Xijiang River Strategy, the zone can directly participate in resource allocation within the Xijiang River basin through river-sea and sea-rail intermodal transport. It serves the urban agglomeration on the western shore of the Pearl River Estuary as well as South China, Southwest China, and Central South China, with the port area’s locational and hinterland advantages becoming increasingly prominent.
