Youxi County, also known as Shenxi, is part of Sanming City, Fujian Province, and is located in the eastern part of Sanming City, in the central part of Fujian Province, north of the Daiyun Mountain Range, between longitude 117°48'30" and 118°40' east, and latitude 25°50'36" and 26°26'30" north, adjacent to Minqing, Yongtai, Shaxian, Datian, Namping, and Dehua. Yuxi County covers an area of 3,463 square kilometers, ranking second among all counties (cities and districts) in the province, with 11 towns and 4 townships under its jurisdiction. According to the data of the seventh population census, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, the resident population of Yuxi County was 341,638 people. It is the largest and most populous county in Sanming City. In the 29th year of the Tang Dynasty (741), Youxi was established as a county under the state of Fuzhou; in 1983, it came under the city of Sanming. Youxi County is known as the "Pearl of Minzhong", and also known as the "Hometown of Chinese Kumquat", "Hometown of Chinese Green Bamboo", "Hometown of Chinese Bamboo ""Hometown of Chinese Oil Tea"", "Famous City of Chinese Geji Cloth" "Famous City of Zhu Zi Science Culture", Youxi County is the birthplace of Zhu Xi, the famous rationalist and educator of the Song Dynasty, and is the first city in Fujian Province to be recognized as the birthplace of Zhu Xi. Yuxi County is the birthplace of Zhu Xi, a famous rationalist and educator in the Song Dynasty, and the first "Millennium Ancient County" in Fujian Province named by the United Nations Group of Experts on Geographical Names.On July 23, 2013, the Research Office of the History of the Central Party formally confirmed that Yuxi County belongs to the scope of the former Central Soviet Union Area; on October 22, 2018, it was selected as the 2018 National Rural Two-Three Industries Integration and Development Pilot Zone Creation List; On December 31, 2019, it was selected as a typical county of national rural innovation and entrepreneurship. In 2022, Yuxi County realized a gross domestic product (GDP) of 26.265 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.9%. The primary industry realized an added value of 5.510 billion yuan, an increase of 4.5%; the secondary industry realized an added value of 9.623 billion yuan, an increase of 2.0%; the tertiary industry realized an added value of 11.132 billion yuan, an increase of 5.3%.
