Park Overview
The Meizhou Bay North Shore Economic Development Zone in Putian, Fujian, is a provincial-level development zone established with the approval of the National Development and Reform Commission and the Fujian Provincial Government. Located on the northern shore of Meizhou Bay in central coastal Fujian, it faces Taiwan across the strait and is only 72 nautical miles from Taichung Port, making it a key hub for maritime transport routes. The development zone covers a total land area of 1,370 square kilometers (of which 1,250 square kilometers is marine territory). It administers three towns—Shan Ting, Dong Pu, and Zhong Men—and 38 villages (residential communities), with a registered population of 150,000.
Leveraging the cultural heritage of Mazu and the natural advantages of Meizhou Bay’s deep-water harbor, the Meizhou Bay North Shore Economic Development Zone is primarily tasked with supporting the development of Mazu City and its port-related industries. Positioned as the “Pearl and Sacred Site of the West Coast of the Taiwan Strait” and the “Venice of the East,” the zone is set to be developed into a garden city, a modern city, a tourist destination, a cultural hub, and a waterfront metropolis.
