Chenggang District, Fujian Province, Putian City, also known as Licheng, is located in the central coast of Fujian Province, Putian city center, the middle of the Xinghua Plain, located on the west coast of the Taiwan Strait, south of the deep-water port of Meizhou Bay, north of the provincial capital of Fuzhou and Mawei, Rongqiao Development Zone, the east of Meizhou Bay Development Zone belt, Putian City, the political, economic, cultural, educational, scientific and technological centers and transportation hubs, with an area of 509 square kilometers. As of February 2022, Chenggang District has three streets and four towns under its jurisdiction. According to the seventh population census, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, the resident population of Chenggang District was 547,422 people.
Chenggang District has nearly 1500 years of county history, in 568, Putian county, Chenggang began to belong to the Putian County jurisdiction. 1279, in Xinghua Road in the urban area and its suburbs divided into four compartments of the east compartment, the south compartment, the left compartment, the right compartment, and other four compartments, set up Chenggang Records Division, and the county subdivided, the name of the "Chenggang" thus derived. It is the beginning of Putian culture, carrying the main functions of Putian city, rich in tourism resources, there are 2 national key cultural relics protection units in the region, 1 national 4A-level scenic spots, 5 national 3A-level tourist scenic spots, 1 provincial scenic spots, 1 provincial forest park, Putian old "twenty-four scenic spots" 12 in the territory of the Chenggang. In 1984, the State Council approved the opening up of one of the coastal counties.
In 2022, the gross domestic product of Chenggang District will be RMB 58.708 billion, an increase of 5.6% over 2021.
