Xiang'an District, belonging to Xiamen City, Fujian Province, is located in the northeastern part of Xiamen City, the central part of the west coast of the Taiwan Strait, bordering Quanzhou City in the northeast, Tong'an District in the west, and Xiamen Island and Kinmen Island in the south across the sea. It has a subtropical monsoon climate, with no severe cold in winter, no scorching heat in summer, pleasantly high and refreshing in fall, and rainy and sunny in spring, with a total area of 411.5 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, Xiang'an District had a resident population of 645,000 people. As of June 2023, Xiang'an District has 7 streets and 2 towns under its jurisdiction, with the district people's government stationed at No. 2005 Xiangfu Road, Xiang'an District, Xiamen.
The establishment of Xiang'an District began in the third year of Taikang of the Jin Dynasty (282), and belonged to Xiangfengli and Min'anli of the ancient Tong'an County. In April 2003, Xiang'an District was established. Since ancient times, Xiang'an has been close to Kinmen in terms of geographical proximity, the same language, similar customs and people, and is the closest place in the motherland to Kinmen, with China's only small commodities trading market in Dadeng to Taiwan, and many performances of the Nanyin Society in Maxiang and the Lutang Opera School in Taiwan and Kinmen. There are many monuments in the territory, such as the ancient house with eighteen bends, the monument of the eunuch of Xilin, and the ruins of Zengshan.
In 2023, Xiang'an District completed a GDP of 88.717 billion yuan, an increase of 7.0%.
