Haicang District, belonging to Xiamen City, Fujian Province, is located in the western part of Xiamen City, east of the Haicang Bridge even Xiamen Island, Huli District, southeast of Xiamen Harbor and Siming District, south of the mouth of the Jiulongjiang River to the Xiamen-Zhangzhou Bridge to the Zhangzhou City, Longhai District, north-west of Zhangzhou City, Changtai District, north of the Jimei District, bordering the northeast of the Maluan Bay to the Xinyang Bridge to the Jimei District. The total area of the jurisdiction is 186.82 square kilometers. As of October 2021, Haicang District has four streets under its jurisdiction and two other township-level units. As of the end of 2022, the resident population of Haicang District was 620,000 people. The district government is located at No. 9, Binhu North Road, Songyu Street.
In the Tang Dynasty, Haicang began as a seaside settlement, called Haikou, and then changed to Haicang, and as Haicang, with the meaning of affluent near the sea, and there is a creek named Cangjiang under the jurisdiction. The Republic of China era set up Cangjiang Town, Haicang District; the fifties with the Haicang District, Haicang Township, Haicang Commune, etc.; in 1989, set up the Haicang Taiwan Investment Zone. August 2003, set up the Haicang District. Haicang District has Tianzhushan Tourist Scenic Area, Riyuegu Hot Spring Resort two national 4A level tourist attractions, there are Qingjiao Ciji Ancestral Palace, Liantang villa and other key cultural relics protection units. Haicang oil painting, Haicang Dongfu agate, Haicang soil asparagus jelly, soil dragon soup and other special tourism products. There are 29 representative items of non-heritage, including 5 at the national level, 2 at the provincial level, 5 at the municipal level and 17 at the district level.
In 2022, Haicang District realized a GDP of 106.748 billion yuan, a growth of 4.7% at comparable prices.
