Cangshan District, belonging to Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, is located in the southern part of the main city of Fuzhou City, four sides of the river, jurisdiction over the entire Nantai Island. North across the Minjiang River and Gulou District, Taijiang District, Jinan District, Mawei District across the river, east and Mawei Harbor across the sea 7.61 nautical miles away, south of the Wulong River and Changle District, Minhou County connected. The area is 142 square kilometers, plus over 150 square kilometers of continental land. As of October 2022, Cangshan District has 8 streets, 5 towns, and 1 farm. As of the end of 2022, Cangshan District had a resident population of 1,180,000 people.
Cangshan District is an ancient part of Min County and Houguan County, Fuzhou Prefecture, and was named because it is in front of the Salt Warehouse. Cangshan Mountain was known as Vine Mountain in ancient times, and salt warehouses began to be built at the northern foot of the mountain during the Ming Dynasty (Hongwu Period), and the place was commonly known as Salt Warehouse, and Vine Mountain was then commonly known as Cangqianshan, or Cangshan Mountain for short, and the district name was derived from this.
