Gao Lou Town is located in the northern border of Tongliang, bordering with Hechuan and Tongnan, situated on the bank of Fuliang River, 33 kilometers away from the county town. It is one of the birthplaces of Chinese dragon culture. The town has 4 administrative villages, 1 street neighborhood committee, 86 agricultural production cooperatives, with a total number of 3981 households, a total population of 13,266, including 12,400 people in rural areas, covering an area of 26.5 square kilometers, with arable land area of 12,570 acres. The town has complete infrastructure, convenient land and water transportation, realizing the village highway and community telephone. Gaolou Township is a characteristic cultural township in Chongqing, officially named as "Chongqing Cultural Industry Demonstration Base" by Chongqing Municipal People's Government in 2012, and successfully created as "Chongqing Municipal Health Township" in 2013. The town has beautiful scenery, fresh air and excellent natural ecological environment, and produces high-quality wild fish such as Fuling River Qingbo, rock carp, bream, yellow rattail, guppy and large-mouth catfish, as well as agro-industries such as sericulture, vegetables and hogs and waterfowls.
