Huaning County, belonging to Yuxi City, Yunnan Province, is located at the southern edge of the Lake Basin Area of the Central Yunnan Plateau, belonging to the Zhongshan type of landscape. It is connected to Mile City in the east, Jianshui County in the south, Tonghai County and Jiangchuan District in the west, and Chengjiang City and Yiliang County in the north. It is 34 kilometers wide from east to west and 59 kilometers long from north to south, with a total area of 1,313 square kilometers, 89% of which is mountainous, and is located between latitude 23°59′ and 24°34′ north and longitude 102°49′ and 103°09′ east. Huaning County is named after the Huagai Mountain and Ningshou Temple in its territory. The terrain of the territory is high in the northwest and low in the southeast, the terrain is narrow in the east and west and long in the north and south, with rolling hills, mountains, hills, basins and valleys intermixed and interspersed, presenting a topography of "two ridges sandwiching two grooves", and the larger basins are the Ninh Zhou Dam and the Pan Xi Dam. The main rivers are Nanpanjiang, Qinglong River, Haikou River, Longdong River and Huaxi River, all belong to the Pearl River system.

In 2021, Huaning County's GDP amounted to 13.30 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 8.7%. Huaning County is a famous ceramics production kiln in Yunnan, the largest wind power equipment manufacturing base with the most complete industrial chain in Yunnan, and the largest tobacco base in Yuxi, and has been awarded the titles of National Garden County City, National Sanitary County City, National Ecological Demonstration Area, National Demonstration County for the Four Good Rural Roads, and National Demonstration County for the Construction of Ecological Civilization. In 2021, the GDP of Huaning County will be 13.30 billion yuan, an increase of 8.7% year-on-year.
