Shizong County, is a mountainous agricultural county with a multi-ethnic population. It was named after Shizong, a tribal leader during the Tang Dynasty, who led his troops to gather in Nanglongdian (Xihua Village, outside present-day Shizong County).On April 30, 2019, the People's Government of Yunnan Province decided that Shizong County would withdraw from the sequence of poverty-stricken counties.On December 31, 2019, it was selected as a typical county for rural innovation and entrepreneurship in the country.
