Qilin District is subordinate to Qujing City, Yunnan Province, and is the seat of the government of Qujing City. It is located in the eastern part of Yunnan Province, in the middle of the East Yunnan Plateau, in the upper reaches of the Nanpanjiang River, between longitude 103°29′-104°14′E and latitude 25°07′-26°06′N. It has a total area of 1,552,83 square kilometers. It is 137 kilometers away from Kunming, the provincial capital, with a total area of 1,552.83 square kilometers, governing three towns of Dongshan, Yuezhou and Ziying, and 11 street offices of Sanbao, Yanjiang, Zhujie, Nanning, Yining, Liaoqiu, Xiaoxiang, Baishijiang, Wenhua, Jianning and Taihe. According to the seventh census data, as of zero hour on November 1, 2020, the resident population of Qilin District is 996,279 people.
Kirin District terrain is high in the east and west, low in the north and south, mountains, river valleys, hills, and intertwined. City elevation of 1875 meters above sea level. The Guikun Railway and 320 National Highway and 326 National Highway in the territory are distributed in a radial shape.
Qilin District has been named the National Sustainable Development Experimental Area, the National Ecological Demonstration Area, the National Science and Technology Demonstration Area honorary title. Famous monuments include the Jin Cuanbaozi Stele, the Thirty-Seven Ministries Alliance Stele, the Zhujie Batatai Ancient Tomb Cluster, and the Xiaoxiang Lake, etc. In 2022, Kirin District will achieve a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 117.35 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth rate of 8.6% on a comparable price basis.
