Simao District, part of Pu'er City, Yunnan Province, is located in the south of Yunnan Province, the south-central part of Pu'er City, and the middle and lower reaches of the Lancang River, between latitude 22°27′-23°06′N and longitude 100°19′-101°27′E. It is connected to Jiangcheng County in the east, Lancang County and Jinggu Dai and Yi Autonomous County in the west, and Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture in the south, with a total area of 3928 square kilometers. Simao District is the origin and distribution center of Pu'er tea.
